Google Earth and Maps new features
Earth
Google Earth now allow you to trace transparent polygons over the maps in his free version and even put your own picture over it.
Maps
Now you can put your Google Earth files over Google Maps. This will allow you to put *your* information layer over the Google Maps. I make a fast test map to see all the possibilities offer by that new feature. Click on the Belvédère link in the left column to see what you can do with it !

sIFR2 : Scalable Inman Flash Replacement 2 now open source
I saw that new technology more than 2 year ago. I give a try for one client, but in that time the server was not enough powerful to serve the replacement of the text in the Flash file for that mid-size traffic site.
Now it seem to work nice with the version 2 of that technology. And the good news it's now open source, under the CC-GNU LGPL license, so anyone can use it free of charge.
Here a live example of the technology use at the Journal Le Devoir, a site who get around 500,000 visitors each month.
